LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) -- It has been a busy day for Rhode Island native Erika Van Pelt, who performs tonight in Providence.
The singer made a stop at an AT&T wireless store in Lincoln Sunday morning as part of AT&T's "It Can Wait" campaign, which aims to educate young drivers about the risks of texting while driving.
Van Pelt and fellow finalist Joshua Ledet met fans at the store at 11 a.m.
Van Pelt and the rest of the American Idol Live Tour will perform at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence tonight at 7 p.m. The tour has been running all summer and in an appearance on The Rhode Show Friday, Van Pelt promised a high-energy concert.
"Being the person who went out the soonest on the tour has put me in sort of an interesting place. People are getting to see a side of me they didn't get to see on the show, which is really cool. So certainly coming home means that much more to me. Which is really awesome," she said Friday.
The tour wraps up September 11th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
