EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Drivers in Southern New England know getting around during the winter months can be challenging with the slick, icy, and snow covered roadways.
But a driver in East Providence learned the hard way it's not just about what's on the ground that you need to worry about, it's what's above too.
A falling icicle smashed right through the windshield of a traveling car, injuring the driver and leaving the car unable to be driven.
The unnamed man was driving down Warren Avenue Thursday morning when the large icicle fell from an overpass.
The driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
