(WPRI) -- The holidays have come to a close, and now many people are left with Christmas trees in need of disposal.

Residents are urged to properly recycle their trees, and below you will find a list of communities and how they will be handling tree collection. If your city or town is not listed, please contact them directly for more information.

(Note: Trees should not be put in plastic bags, and all ornaments, tinsel, and stands should be removed from trees prior to pickup.)

Attleboro

  • Curbside tree collection will take place the week of Jan. 7 - Jan. 11. ( More info )

Barrington

  • Free curbside pickup available Jan. 7 until Jan. 25. ( More info )

Burrillville

  • No curbside pickup offered, trees are to be brought to the Whipple Avenue Recycling & Compost Center on the first and second Wednesdays and Saturdays of January. ( More info )

Coventry

  • Curbside collection available throughout the month of January.

Cranston

  • Free curbside collection begins Jan. 2 and runs for two weeks. ( More info )

  • Curbside pickup offered Jan. 7 through Jan. 11. ( More info )

Johnston

  • Trees can be put out anytime, will be taken with regular trash collection.

Middletown

  • Christmas trees will be picked up with yard waste on collection days. Residents are asked to not put trees on the curb until the night before pickup. ( More info )

Narragansett

  • No curbside collection, trees can be dropped off at no charge to the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station from the end of December through the last week of January. ( More info )

Newport

  • Trees will be picked up during yard waste collection week of Jan. 14.

North Kingstown

  • Trees can be dropped off free of charge to the North Kingstown Transfer Station, located at 345 Devils Foot Road. ( More info )

North Providence

  • Trees will be collected during normal trash pickup.

Pawtucket

  • Trees can be placed on the curb for pickup throughout the month of January.

Portsmouth

Providence
