PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP/WPRI) - Rhode Island's governor is preparing to address state lawmakers and announce his state budget proposal.

Gov. Lincoln Chafee is scheduled to deliver his annual State of the State address Wednesday evening.

In the speech, the governor will lay out his priorities for the year. He'll also release his budget proposal for the fiscal year beginning July 1.

Lawmakers typically make big changes to the spending plan before approving it later in the session.

The General Assembly began its 2013 session on Jan. 1.

The governor's speech will be airing live on WPRI 12 tonight starting at 7 p.m. and also online at WPRI.com.
