PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Days after winning re-election, Speaker Gordon Fox has won another key vote.

Friday night, House Democrats nominated him for another term as Speaker of the House. While there have been several lows on Fox's watch -- including the collapse of 38 Studios, and the bankruptcy of Central Falls -- the newly re-elected lawmaker says there have also been a lot of positives. He pointed to the state's sweeping pension reforms.

"I think the government has heard it loud and clear," he told Eyewitness News. "People want us to come together to solve problems."

Democrats in the Senate nominated President Teresa Paiva Weed for another term as well.

"I think we're on the right track," Fox said. "We'll contnue to make things better, and we'll continue to attack tough problems."
