PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island health officials have reopened Goddard Memorial State Park Beach in Warwick to swimming.

The state Health Department had said Thursday it had found an unhealthy level of bacteria in the water. By Friday officials said the bacteria levels had returned to within acceptable limits.

The department regularly monitors water quality at its public beaches to make sure it's safe for swimmers.

The testing is done by the health department or a laboratory certified by the state.
