EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – The East Providence Police Department and the “Blue Brotherhood” sponsored a pasta dinner Saturday to fundraise for injured fellow officer Greg Tainsh.

Officer Tainsh, a nine year veteran of the force, was severely injured when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a car in April.

The crash caused significant damage to his right knee and leg, confining him to a wheelchair for three months.

The fundraiser included a pasta dinner, large raffle, and entertainment from the James Montgomery Blues Band.

It remains to be determined if Officer Tainsh can recover fully enough to make a return as a patrolman in the field.

All proceeds from the event will go directly to Officer Tainsh and his family.
