PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Attorney General Peter Kilmartin and Providence Mayor Angel Taveras are hosting a foreclosure and loan modification workshop.

The free workshop is being offering on Wednesday, June 27, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Roger Williams Park Casino in Providence.

The goal of the workshop is to provide information and assistance to homeowners who may be in jeopardy of going into foreclosure, those currently in foreclosure, and anyone who wants to learn if they may be eligible for any relief programs.

“This workshop brings together the many local, state and federal resources and assistance programs that are available to homeowners," Kilmartin said.

“This workshop is a great opportunity for homeowners who are in fiscal crisis or at risk of foreclosure to learn how to protect themselves against mortgage modification scams and connect with resources that are available to assist them," said Mayor Taveras.

HUD-certified counselors, mortgage service providers, as well as state and local housing officials will be on hand to answer questions and provide information.

The event is open to the public.
