PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A steady stream of mourners filed into the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Providence Monday afternoon for the wake of former Rhode Island Governor J. Joseph Garrahy.
Garrahy - who held office from 1977 to 1985 - is best remembered by most for his leadership during the "Blizzard of '78." He died last week in Florida at the age of 81.
Calling hours were held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Providence.
The funeral will also be held at that church Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. The Mass will be aired live on WPRI 12 and streaming on WPRI.com.
Garrahy will be buried at the Saint Francis Cemetery in Wakefield.
