NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- An overnight fire in North Providence has destroyed a three-story home.
Emergency crews were called to 35 Wellesley Ave. just before 2:30 a.m. Monday for a fire in the rear of the house. The fire quickly spread and engulfed the entire home.
"I smelled smoke. I looked out one window and I saw this house over here was all orange. At which point I said, there's a fire nearby," said Brian Binegar.
The family inside, consisting of two adults, their 5-year-old daughter and their dog were all able to get out of the residence safely.
"Never been in a fire. To be honest with you, the first thing that was going through my head was to get everybody out," Binegar said.
The North Providence Fire Department said it took crews almost two hours to get the fire under control, and the home is a total loss.
Officials are now investigating the cause of the blaze which they say does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
The Red Cross is providing assistance to the family of four.
