DOVER, Del. (WPRI) - A Rhode Island Marine, killed during a combat mission in Afghanistan last week, returned to United States soil Monday morning
A photo from the Associated Press shows a coffin carrying Lance Cpl. Abraham Tarwoe as it arrived at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware before dawn.
According to the Department of Defense, Tarwoe, 25, of Providence died Thursday while conducting combat operations in Helmand Province .
Tarwoe's brother, Randall Karr, said the Marine leaves behind a wife and one-year-old son, who live near Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
Funeral arrangements for Tarwoe have not yet be released as of this writing.
In the meantime, Gov. Lincoln Chafee has ordered flags to be flown at half staff in Tarwoe's honor.
