EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A driver accused of hitting a pedestrial Saturday morning on Taunton Avenue has turned himself in.
East Providence police say 22 year-old Antonio DaSilva of East Providence turned himself in shortly before 2 p.m. and is now facing a charge of "duty to stop in accidents resulting in personal injury," according to Lieutenant Raymond Blinn.
The crash occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Taunton Avenue near Six Corners.
According to police, a 51-year old East Providence man was trying to cross the street when he was hit by a dark-colored vehicle, causing several broken bones and serious head injuries. That vehicle continued without stopping.
Police say DaSilva turned himself in at the police department Saturday afternoon and his vehicle has been seized as evidence.
There was no update on the victim's condition available Saturday afternoon.
