EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A body has been discovered along the waterfront in East Providence.

Lieutenant Raymond Blinn tells Eyewitness News that a person walking along the East Bay Bike Path Sunday morning at about 8:30 found the body washed up on the shore off the end of Squantum Road.

The body appears to have been in the water for some time, although it's not yet clear for how long.

Blinn said there was nothing immediately suspicious about the discovery, although detectives and the medical examiner's office are now investigating.
