EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- An East Providence man was indicted in court today for stabbing and strangling his ex-girlfriend to death in 2010.
Raymond Grundy, 37, of Fifth Avenue, appeared in court Wednesday to face one count of first-degree murder and criminal solicitation to commit murder. He's accused of murdering Staria Silva inside of her apartment on Dec. 25 , and it's believed that Grundy paid another individual to commit the crime sometime before that.
Silva's mother found her daughter lying dead with signs of asphyxiation and several stab wounds to her neck and arms. The victim's twin 9-month old baby girls lay crying in their cribs, according to the police report.
Grundy is currently serving six years for an unrelated probation violation. He also has other charges pending against him, including second-degree robbery, felony domestic assault, and violation of a no-contact order.
He's scheduled for arraignment on Nov. 21.
