EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Police are reminding drivers to watch out for black ice following this weekend's snow storm.
A pickup truck flipped onto its side around 6 p.m. Sunday on an icy road in East Providence.
Lieutenant Thomas Rush of the East Providence Police Department say while no one was injured in the crash on Wilson Avenue, it serves as a reminder for drivers to take things slow during these winter months.
"We know that it's the first storm of the season. Last year there weren't a lot of snow storms or ice storms so people haven't really driven in these types of conditions, so we would just ask them to use caution," Rush said.
Police are reminding drivers black ice is a very real threat when temperatures drop below freezing.
"Just assume that once the sun goes down, any wet spots that were wet during the day will freeze up," Rush said.
