PROVIDENCE R.I. (WPRI) – Providence police embarked on a little game of hide-and-seek with a burglary suspect Tuesday afternoon, and it was all caught on camera.

According to a police report, officers responded to 34 Whitmarsh St. around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday for reports of a house break.

Upon arrival, police found a first-floor window on the side of the house propped open and a lawn chair placed below the window.

At that point, officers said they surrounded the building, while one of them climbed in through the open window and opened the front door.

Police, with the help of a K-9 officer, then searched the property and found the suspect, identified as Jose Rosa Ramos, on the roof of the home and took him into custody.

The homeowner was called to the scene and told police the suspect was not an acquaintance of his and had no business inside of his house.

Police said there were as many as three people involved, but only one was found and taken into custody.

Ramos was held and then turned over to detectives for further investigation.
