PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Thousands of progressive activists flocked to Providence Saturday for the Netroots Nation Conference.
Participants of the conference are spending their downtime packing local restaurants and hotels. Local tourism officials estimate this conference will bring in about $3.5 million, giving the downtown area businesses an always-welcomed economic boost.
The conference brings together key activists and leaders to discuss hot topic issues, as well as strategize for upcoming political battles.
Local officials and businesses are hoping this conference spurs more future events and cash for the capital city.
