PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Several Rhode Island leaders are set to get a pay raise next year, but Governor-Elect Lincoln Chafee says that while he will accept the raise, he won’t be keeping the money for himself.
Instead, Chafee plans to set up a fund to award exceptional state employees. He plans to announce more details about the fund once he takes office in January.
Chafee also said that refusing the raise would penalize his successor.
