PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A local football coach and father of five is recovering in the hospital after being struck by a car on North Main Street.
Arthur Cardoso, who is also a bouncer for the Tantric Nightclub, was hit early by a car early Sunday morning, and the driver immediately fled the scene.
"It's sickening," said Corey Cardoso, the victim's son. "How they can ride off and not say anything?"
Corey plays for his dad on the East Bay Warriors team in Warren.
At practice Monday night, he and his sister Caitlin were pleading for the driver to come forward.
"I hope they can come out and say they did it and accept whatever consequences come their way," said Caitlin Cardoso.
Cardoso is in good condition at the hospital, where his wife, Kim is at his bedside.
Team members like Jack Osteen signed a card for him Monday, hoping for the best.
"It's hard for them to focus on football when we preach and teach family and one of our lead family members is in the hospital," Osteen said.
According to a Providence police report, officers are on the hunt for a gray or silver Mercedes.
