BOSTON (WPRI) - A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a suspected serial bank robber dubbed the "Bearded Bandit" by the FBI .

The "Bearded Bandit" is wanted for holding up four southern New England banks this year:

  • Feb. 23: Bank of America on Fall River Avenue in Seekonk
  • April 16: Citizens Bank on Park Avenue in Cranston
  • May 7: Bank of America on Bald Hill Road in Warwick
  • June 27: Bank of America on Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence

According to the FBI, the robber said he had a gun and threatened to harm the tellers during three of the four robberies.

The FBI said Thursday that it is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the capture of the bearded bandit.  Bank of America is also offering an additional $2,500 in reward money.

Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the "Bearded Bandit" is asked to call the FBI at (617) 742-5533 or contact the Seekonk, Cranston, Warwick, or North Providence Police Departments.
