PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A Barrington man battling the effects of cancer treatment has sued the Law School Admission Council, accusing it of violating federal disabilities law by failing to accommodate his needs in taking the law school admission test.
The Providence Journal reports that Carlin O'Donnell filed a lawsuit Wednesday in U.S. District Court. The 23-year-old says he has double vision and other disabilities following two brain surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy he underwent for treatment of a brain tumor and lung cancer. He wants a large-print test book, more time to take the test and rest periods.
The council said in a letter that O'Donnell took the test in December without accommodations and received a slightly higher-than-average score. It noted a doctor has said he has adjusted to the double vision and can perform most functions easily.
