LOS ANGELES (WPRI) - Hundreds of votes were cast by a panel of American chefs, restaurant critics, pizza authorities and food writers to find the "Best Pizza in America."

Each year The Daily Meal seeks out the best place to find the most mouth-watering pie. They praised Rhode Island's own Al Forno as offering quintessential Italian dining experience for those who can’t afford the flight to Italy.

Al Forno , located at 577 South Main Street in Providence, ranked 28th best pizza in America.

Pizza at the restaurant is baked in wood-burning ovens and on grills. According to The Daily Meal, Al Forno's grilled pizza margarita is probably their most notable pie.
