PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Two people have been arrested by Providence Police after a stabbing took place in the Capital City early Sunday morning.

Providence Detectives said just after midnight Sunday, 46-year-old Harold Moody of Providence was stabbed in the leg by 21-year-old Christian Morales at 671 Chalkstone Avenue.

Moody's friend, 35-year-old Maribel Davila, who lives at the address of the stabbing, drove him to Roger Williams Medical Center to be treated for his leg injury, that was later deemed as a minor wound. Moody was treated and later released.

However, while Davila was waiting to gave a witness statement to police at headquarters, officers said she became belligerent and struck a detective and as a result was arrested and charged with Simple Assault.

Morales was also arrested and taken into custody after he turned himself into police. He was charged with Felony Assault and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. A utility knife used in the crime was confiscated from Morales at that time.

Both Davila and Morales were held overnight in Providence and will appear in Providence District Court on Monday morning.
