PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Providence police are investigating an early morning shooting in the Capital City.
Providence Police tell Eyewitness News that they received a 'shots fired' call at about 1:30 Saturday morning at McCormack's Pub, 312 Veazie Street. As officers were on their way to the scene, police received additional calls about a car that had crashed into a house at 233 Oakland Street. A passenger in that car was suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers determined that the victim had been shot at the Veazie Street location. The 30 year-old man had been shot in the back of the head but was alert and talking to officers at the scene. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. The person who was driving the car in an apparent attempt to get the victim to a hospital was not hurt in the crash.
Police say detectives continue to investigate the shooting, and so far no arrests have been made.
