PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A standoff in Providence has ended peacefully after several hours.
Police swarmed outside of a home on Taylor Street in Providence Tuesday morning.
State Police, Providence Police , and the SWAT Team all responded to the scene for an apparent standoff.
At one point, police placed nearby residents into a command truck, as a safety precaution, according to an Eyewitness News crew.
Crews tell us that the suspect was arrested and taken out of the home in handcuffs around 1:40 p.m.
There is no word on what prompted the standoff. No word on the suspect's identity.
Police are not releasing many details at this time as they continue to investigate.
