PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Two Providence College basketball players are facing charges, after an alleged altercation.

Police say Johnnie Lacy, 20, and James Still, 19, were arraigned in district court on Monday morning.

The two are accused of assaulting Yerkin Abdrakhmanov, 21, at the intersection of Eaton Street and Huxley Avenue early Monday morning.

Police said Lacy and Still chose their victim at random, deciding to attack the next male they saw.

Abdrakhmanov was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. Police said he suffered a broken nose and eye socket in the attack.

Police said an eyewitness gave them a description of Lacy and Still, and were arrested several blocks away. Lacy had blood on his shirt, and Still had cuts and blood on his hands, police said.

Just days before the incident, PC Basketball Coach Keno Davis announced that Lacy would not be returning to the school next year.

Both Lacy and Still have been suspended and banned from the school's campus, pending an internal investigation. Still was released Monday after posting $10,000 bond. Lacy was still being held at the ACI Monday night.

Kenneth Sicard, Excecutive Vice President of Providence College released a statement that reads in part:

"We are deeply disturbed by the unprovoked assault...This serious and random assault violates all standards of conduct that Providence College expects of its students and is contrary to our deepest values...Our thoughts and prayers are extended to the Providence College student who was injured."
