RPOVIDENCE, R.I., (WPRI) - Club Elements , a troubled Providence hot spot, will not be allowed to reopen, the city's Board of Licences ruled Monday afternoon.
Following several hearings, the board voted Monday to keep the revocation of the club's license in place. The only possibility for the club to reopen is under new management.
The club has been shut down since a New Year's Day melee outside the Richmond St. establishment. Providence police said it took dozens of police officers to bring the unruly crowd under control. Police said the incident was just one of many outside the club.
Earlier this month, state Rep. Peter Petrarca and Gianfranco Marrocco, owner of Mediterraneo, asked the board to transfer the liquor license of Club Elements to them.
Board members said they would consider a transfer of the license to a new owner, as long as the application is received by March 12.
