PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - "Keep the heat on."
The charity campaign has raised nearly one million dollars to help thousands of Rhode Islanders in the past five years.
Today - the Diocese of Providence had some professional help with their kickoff.
With Governor Don Carcieri's signature, the State launches a new license plate for New England football fans, the Patriots plate gives Rhode Islander drivers the chance to show off their favorite team and help local charities at the same time.
Approved by the General Assmbly this year, the new plate will cost $40 more than normal registration, with a portion of the funds heading to the Patriots charitable foundation.
The Patriots also helped kick off the State's "Keep the heat on" campaign with a $2500 dollar check.
In its fifth year - the program stays true to its name.
The Patriots plates become available online on Wednesday.
