SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WPRI) - The Apple Valley Cinema in Smithfield was suddenly shut down this week for unpaid rent, a lawyer said Wednesday.
An eviction noticed was posted on the movie theater's doors, following a lawsuit by the owners of the Apple Valley Mall.
A lawyer representing the mall's owners said the operators of the movie theater owed over $130,000 dollars in back rent.
Representatives for the Apple Valley Cinema had not yet responded to phone calls Wednesday afternoon.
