NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WPRI) - A North Smithfield woman was killed and four others were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Virginia over the weekend.
According to Virginia State Police, a Dodge Neon failed to stop at a posted stop sign and collided with a Honda motorcycle. It happened in Nelson County, Virginia at 3:51 p.m. Sunday.
The driver of the motorcycle, Alphonse R. Beaulieu, 76, of North Smithfield is currently being treated at a Virginia hospital for life-threatening injuries. His wife and passenger, Rina I. Beaulieu, 75, died at the scene.
Police said both were wearing helmets.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Charges related to the accident are pending.
