PASCOAG, R.I. (AP) -- Officials with the Pascoag Utility District say a second round of testing has shown that there is no evidence that the water supply is contaminated with E. coli or fecal coliform bacteria.
Results came out Saturday evening after the first round of monthly testing showed two of eight samples were possibly tainted with the bacteria.
Pascoag Utility District General Manager Mike Kirkwood says the nonprofit agency will again test the water Monday as a precaution.
He says the utility will also continue to work with the Rhode Island Department of Health to ensure that the water supply remains safe.
The quasi-municipal utility provides electricity and water in Pascoag and Harrisville. That includes 1,100 water customers.
