BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (AP) -- A small Rhode Island town could soon lose its only bank.
State Rep. Cale Keable said Friday that he's asking Bank of America to reconsider its decision to close its Burrillville branch this fall. While the town does have a credit union, the Bank of America branch is its only bank.
The Burrillville Democrat says the branch is a fixture in the community and that without it, customers will have to drive several miles to a bank in another town.
Keable says customers were notified this week that the branch would close.
Burrillville is a town of 16,000 people in Rhode Island's northwest corner.
Messages were left with a Bank of America spokesman.
