JOHNSTON, R.I. (WPRI) -- The victim of a serious assault Saturday in Johnston is improving, according to police.
Major Michael Colucci says that the victim, a man in his twenties, woke up Sunday morning at the hospital and was able to speak to detectives. Doctors told investigators that the man is expected to survive, but remains in serious condition.
Police are still not releasing the man's name.
Neighbors told Eyewitness News Saturday that the man had been attacked with a bat outside a raucous party early Saturday morning at a home on Borden Avenue.
The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, and Colucci said Sunday that no arrests have yet been made.
