GLOCESTER, R.I. (WPRI) - Drivers experienced poor visibility and slick roads in northern Rhode Island as a storm of snow mixed with rain pushed through the area on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
According to Pinpoint Meteorologist Michelle Muscatello there will be early morning wind and periods of heavy rain with gusts between 45-60 possible. This could lead to a slippery commute.
Putnam Pike in Harmony was covered in snow, and the winds were picking up in the area.
Kevin Donaldson has his plow on his truck, and hoped to make some money off this storm.
"I'll get up around midnight, one o'clock. I'll see how it's falling" Donaldson said, "I do most of my plowing up in Massachusetts."
Laura Mungai works as a nurse in Rhode Island, but commutes back and forth to her home in Concord, New Hampshire.
"Back and forth like two and a half hours, slip and slide," Mungai said, "I take it slow. I see lots of accidents when I'm going back and forth."
"It only takes a little dusting for your car to spin out and the next thing you know bad things happen," said Smithfield resident Chris Branch. "Until they have a little mishap or their car spins a little on them, they decide hey what the heck I'll just go a little quicker, and when they do they have white knuckles and start realizing this could be hazardous."
The snow changed over to rain overnight, and there are some slick roadways for the morning commute.
