BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Burrillville firefighters called to a fire on Steere Farm Rd. Monday afternoon found a man's body inside the home.
Police have identified the victim as 57-year-old Robert C. Alarie, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
After receiving reports of a fire, crews rushed to the home at 145 Steere Farm Rd. at about 12 p.m. to find flames coming from an upstairs bedroom.
One neighbor tells us Alarie was paralyzed from the waist down and lived alone. Authorities have not confirmed whether he is the owner of the home.
The State Fire Marshal, Burrillville police detectives and the Harrisville Fire Department are investigating the fire. They tell us that at this time, the blaze appears to be accidental.
