BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WPRI) - A father and son are the latest suspects charged in a string of air conditioner equipment thefts in several northern Rhode Island communities.

Tuesday morning, Burrillville Police announced the arrests of Larry Bates, Sr., 52, and Larry Bates, Jr., 29.

They, along with another man, 23-year-old Christopher Fisher, are accused of stealing more than $50,000 worth of air conditioner compressors and equipment in Burrillville, Woonsocket, and North Smithfield.

Fisher was arrested last week.

The father and son were arrested at the V.A. Hospital in Providence, where Larry Bates, Sr. was being treated after becoming ill.

The elder Bates was arraigned in his hospital bed and held on personal recognizance. His son was ordered held without bail, and is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday.

Christopher Fisher is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Providence District Court.
