NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A North Providence family is forced from their home after a lightning strike starts a fire in the attic.
Allison Carroll and her family were preparing a Father's Day dinner inside their Lyman Avenue home when a bolt of lightning jolted the house, shattering light bulbs.
Carroll rushed to the second floor to check on her pets, discovering intense flames coming from the attic.
Firefighters rushed to the home, where they were able to extinguish the blaze, but the damage was already done. The fire caused heavy damage to the attic and second floor, and due to smoke and water damage, the entire home is now unlivable.
The Carroll family says despite the damage to the home, they are just grateful everyone made it out safely.
