WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) - CVS Caremark Charity Classic Golf Tournament is offering free tickets to the annual event at Rhode Island Country Club.
The tickets are available free at area CVS stores to customers who purchase qualifying products, and will be good for any day of the June 21-23 tournament.
“We are delighted that our free ticket offer gives all Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts residents a chance to see some of golf’s biggest names score for local charities,” said Eileen Howard Dunn, Tournament Chairman, CVS Caremark Charity Classic.
The CVS Caremark Charity Classic, co-hosted by Rhode Island PGA pros Billy Andrade and Brad Faxon, brings together 20 of golf’s top players from the PGA, LPGA and Champions tours. The 2009 field includes legendary players Nick Price, Davis Love III and Retief Goosen as well as young superstars Zach Johnson, Nick Watney, Anthony Kim, Camilo Villegas and Bubba Watson. Top-rated LPGA professionals Morgan Pressel, Natalie Gulbis, Juli Inkster and Helen Alfredsson will also take the links. This year, the tournament will feature a co-ed format for the first time in the tournament’s history.
The CVS Caremark Charity Classic benefits numerous regional charities. Since its inaugural event in 1999, the prestigious tournament has donated $12 million to hundreds of New England-area philanthropic organizations dedicated to helping children and families. The 2008 tournament raised $1.8 million dollars.
