PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The former Roger Williams Medical Center president convicted of buying a state senator's influence will be waiting a few more weeks to learn his fate.

Robert Urciuoli was originally set to be sentenced March 6; the sentencing is now pushed back to the 31st.

His lawyers requested the delay to attend a conference on the West Coast for attorneys specializing in white collar criminal defense.

Urciuoli was convicted in October of conspiracy and 35 counts of mail fraud for hiring former state Sen. John Celona to do his bidding at the State House.

It was Urciuoli's second trial; his convictions from his first in 2006 were reversed by a federal appeals court.
