WARWICK, RI (WPRI) - Warwick police are investigating the death of 3-year-old boy. The family called police Sunday afternoon to report the child missing.
A family member found the boy inside his mother's car sitting out in 80 degree temperatures at a home on Suburban Parkway. Police said the boy had been in the car for a few hours.
He was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Neighbors of the victim said they are shocked by what happened.
"I see him out in the yard playing all the time. And I see the mom with him, and to hear what happened is very shocking and unfortunate," said Kenny Bernard.
Right now the cause of death is undetermined; but a preliminary investigation at the scene indicates a tragic accident may have occurred.
