SWANSEA, Mass. (WPRI) - Swansea police identified the woman killed early Friday morning in a drunk driving crash on Gardners Neck Road.

Swansea Police responded to the crash on Gardners Neck Road shortly before 2 a.m. Investigators said a Ford Escape carrying three people lost control and struck two utility poles.

"It was horrific, it really was. And my heart was jumping out of my chest. And of course I went right away and I called 911," said Elizabeth Traynor, an eyewitness.

Police said the backseat passenger in the SUV, Joslyn Moynagh, 21 of Swansea, was taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital, then transferred to Rhode Island Hospital. Police said she died from her injuries a couple hours later.

"She was a great person, loved her family, and had a big heart. And she was just a really great sister," said Ethan Moynagh.

Police have identified the driver as 22-year-old Justin Nunes of Swansea. Investigators said he was driving drunk. Nunes was arraigned in Fall River District Court Friday and released on bail.

He's charged with motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation and failure to stay in marked lanes.
Nunes also turned in his license and will undergo random alcohol testing.

According to Moynagh's brother, Nunes and his sister were just acquaintances. All three were returning from a birthday party when the crash happened.
