TAUNTON, Mass., (AP) - The trial of a Fall River man accused of raping a mentally disabled man he had befriended has started with the alleged victim on the stand.
The alleged victim, from Tiverton, R.I., is back on the stand today after testifying yesterday about the "mean and evil" events he suffered at the hands of his accused attacker.
Buddy Smith is charged with rape, indecent assault and battery on a mentally retarded person and witness intimidation. The 23-year-old Smith allegedly raped the other man several times between 2004 and 2006.
The alleged victim, referred to as J in court documents, testified that his attacker was at first nice, then became mean.
Under cross examination, Smith's lawyer pointed out inconsistencies in the alleged victim's recollection of events.
