STOUGHTON, MASS., (WPRI) - A 4-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was hit by a car in Stoughton, Massachusetts on Saturday.
The little girl was hit on Route 138 while she was on her scooter in a crosswalk.
A nurse at the scene performed CPR on the child but she was unresponsive.
The victim was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital.
Police say the 88-year-old driver never saw the girl.
There were no skid marks in the roadway and there was no screeching before the crash.
Police were reconstructing the accident scene Saturday afternoon and were testing the brakes of the car.
The speed limit along that section of Washington Street is 35 mph.
Investigators say the driver appears to have been going about 30 mph when the child was hit.
