PROVIDENCE R.I. (WPRI) - A dangerous and brazen bank robbery in Cumberland led to a state police trooper firing two shots. The state police are now stating that the shooting was justified.
The state police say that 43-year-old Darrin Gray of Cumberland robbed a Sovereign Bank out of six thousand dollars on Wednesday.
The police arrested Gray last night after he attempted to run down a state trooper at a gas station in Providence.
The trooper, 23-year Veteran Sgt. Don Devine, fired two shots.
No one was injured as both shots missed.
The state police and a state prosecutor say that a preliminary investigation likewise indicates the shooting was justified.
