PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The emergency room at Rhode Island Hospital saw an increase in injuries following Monday's winter storm.
"It's been busy today, with certainly an increase in snow-related injuries," said emergency room Dr. Lawrence Proano.
He said doctors treated six people for falls, two people for back injuries and one person for a heart attack.
Although the injuries are on par with other snowy days, it is an increase from a normal day.
Proano said many of the injuries can be prevented.
" [Take] common sense precautions . Just be extra careful, because weather like this creates an injury hazard for all ages," he said.
