PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - According to the Centers for Disease Control, nearly two million
patients contract a Hospital Acquired Infection each year. In fact,
HAI is the fourth largest killer in the country.
But now, A local woman is launching a new initiative to keep
patients safe from the growing epidemic.
Pat Mastors, former Eyewitness News Anchor, lost her father
to an HAI almost three years ago.
Now, she's hoping her experience will help save others. She
has put together the "Empowered Patient" kit, which includes
information, several hospital grade sanitizers, and other items
designed to kill or keep deadly germs away.
"It will probably save some lives and that's all that was
really important to me," Mastors said.
