It's no secret any Rhode Island companies are struggling in a tough economy, but not The Foxy Lady in Providence. The strip club is actually thriving and is looking to fill 25 to 30 positions.
The club is having a job fair Saturday. While management is looking to hire exotic dancers, it is also hiring managers, waitresses and other behind-the-scenes positions.
During an appearance on the John DePetro radio show Thursday morning, club co-owner Tom Tsoumas said once The Foxy Lady cut its drink prices to 1979 prices, business started to pick up again.
With the state's unemployment rate at 10.3 percent and climbling , Tsoumas said he's expecting to be shocked by the quality of applicants Saturday. Due to the economic downturn, he said many of the people who show up may have normally applied for more conventional jobs in the past.
He also said in his experience, an increase in the adult entertainment business has been an indicator of recovery during other economic downturns.
