PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WPRI) - The Rhode Island Department of Health has confirmed that it's investigating whether the death of a Portsmouth student is linked to the H1N1 virus.
The news comes one day after Saint Philomena's school sent home a notice alerting parents about the death of a 12-year-old student.
The health department will only say that an initial autopsy was inconclusive, and that one of the tests being done now, is an H1N1 test.
Those results are expected back on Thursday.
