PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) - Police arrested two Pawtucket men Friday morning after officers say they caught the suspects red-handed stealing rims right off a BMW belonging to Red Sox pitching prospect Clay Buchholz.

Buchholz, who played for the big club last season is currently playing with the team's AAA team, the Pawtucket Red Sox and is living in the city. Police said the crime happened right outside his apartment building which, for security reasons, police are not identifying.

Police got the call around 4 a.m. after a neighbor witnessed the crime in action. When officers arrived, they said the suspects had the 2007 M6 BMW jacked up on bricks and two wheels were already off.

Airton Monteiro, 21, and Tony Reverdes, 28, were arraigned Friday on possession of stolen vehicle parts, larceny over $500 and tampering with autos charges.

Buchholz said he's no stranger to crimes like this.

"I called [the club house manager] and he said, 'You're car sort of got put on bricks last night.' And I said, 'good Lord, it's not the first time I've experienced a stolen vehicle or something similar," Buchholz said. "So, I definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. But things happen."
