Honesty is the best policy.

A local public works employee is being honored for returning a pocketbook with nearly $600 dollars inside!

His reward, a certificate and a pat on the back!

Pawtucket Mayor James Doyle honors a city worker for doing the right thing.

Louis Capella was working when he found a woman's purse in the garbage can.

The purse held roughly $600 dollars in cash, not to mention credit cards and other personal items and capella turned it in.

"It's nice to take the money and all that and spend it, but you wouldn't feel good, you know? So it makes me feel good you know? Turning it in."

The owner told police she left the purse on her porch and when she came back and it was gone.

The thief managed to get away with a little cash, but most of her things were safe and sound.

The Mayor says, "Here's a young man who stepped forth and did a remarkable, remarkable job."

Capella made sure to have his family there, but most importantly, his three sons to show them that good deeds do get recognized.

"I was happy, that he did the right thing. i was actually kind of proud."
